Remembering Borda - elder brother (Bishnu)

Khuku (Bishnu’s sister) could not be physically present to pay her last respects to her beloved Borda (Bishnu), though she visualized the funeral procedure and was always there in spirit. Khuku wanted to pay her last respects in her own possible way in Kolkata, India. Being an ardent devotee of Sree Satya Sai Baba and a regular attendee to the spiritual/devotional singing sessions, she was aware of the fact that on the first Wednesday of every month the devotional group at Birati in Kolkata, India, feeds the street children near one of the underground stations in Kolkata. She also knew that a Masjid (Mosque) near her residence occasionally makes arrangements to feed little kids of the neighbourhood. Khuku, knowing the kind of person her Borda was, realised that if she took the initiative to make arrangements to feed those kids for one day, near the underground station as well as the Masjid, she would find the experience to be very comforting. So,she went ahead with her plan. Not keeping too well herself, she had to entrust the responsibility to make the necessary arrangements to people who had readily agreed to volunteer. She was not able to be present in person on the days the arrangements were made. But she could learn from the volunteers that the kids were very happy and some of them even pointed at Bishnu’s photograph and commented with their childlike simplicity -”That Dadu(Grandpa), meaning Bishnu, is a nice man. He has given us good food for breakfast”.Gautam, Bishnu’s cousin, residing in Silchar, India, on being requested by Khuku, had also made a similar kind of arrangement at the Ramkrishna Mission, Silchar, in order to pay his last respects to Borda (Bishnu).
